Artist's Description

Mount Washington is a mountain on the eastern edge of the Vancouver Island Ranges of British Columbia and the site of the popular Mount Washington Alpine Resort. It is located approximately 25 km (16 mi) from the Comox Valley.
The mountain was named after Rear Admiral John Washington, official Hydrographer, British Royal Navy, by Captain Richards while charting the West Coast in the 1860s.
In the summer, Mount Washington has many trails for mountain bikers, and offers scenic chair lifts and hiking trails to visitors. In the winter months, the ski season begins, and the mountain is crowded with skiiers, snowboarders and hikers of all ages.
Mount Washington is also home to the Vancouver Island marmot, one of the planet's most endangered mammals. Found in the wild only on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, the Vancouver Island marmot differs significantly from other marmot species. I consider myself to be primarily a nature and landscape photographer, who also enjoys creating digital art. I live on the west coast of Canada, on the southern tip of beautiful Vancouver Island, and nature provides much of the inspiration for my craft. I am lucky to have many birds and wildlife share my neighbourhood, and I will spend many a happy hour sitting outside with my camera, capturing their antics as they come to visit my yard.
