A lone, vibrant tree grows atop a weathered tree stump surrounded by reflective, tranquil water. The scene exudes a sense of peace and resilience, as nature persists in an unlikely setting.
This little fir tree grows on the stump of its predecessor, in the middle of a Vancouver Island lake not far from Port Renfrew, in British Columbia, Canada. Resembling a bonsai tree, it is visible from the road. Suitably, the lake in which this little tree thrives is named Fairy Lake.
I consider myself to be primarily a nature and landscape photographer, who also enjoys creating digital art. I live on the west coast of Canada, on the southern tip of beautiful Vancouver Island, and nature provides much of the inspiration for my craft. I am lucky to have many birds and wildlife share my neighbourhood, and I will spend many a happy hour sitting outside with my camera, capturing their antics as they come to visit my yard. The many birds and deer have become used to seeing that crazy lady sitting on the porch pointing her black box at them, and, as a result, I have been lucky to have captured many of their images as they visit unafraid.
