The beautiful and delicate dandelion, or Taraxacum officianle is common in all parts of the northern hemisphere. It is so abundant that this herb is thought of as a troublesome weed in many parts of the world. The above ground parts and the root can be used to make medicine to address a variety of common ailments, and is used as salad greens, and in soups, wine, and teas. The roasted root is also used as a coffee substitute.
Here in this black and white photograph, the dandelion is ready to disperse its seeds upon the wind. Delicate, isn't it?
