This historic stairwell sits on the site of the Fort Rodd Hill National Historic Site, in Victoria, B.C., Canada. Built in the late 1890s to defend Victoria and the Esquimalt Naval Base, the historic coast artillery fort includes three gun batteries, underground magazines, command posts, guardhouses, barracks and searchlight emplacements. There is a strong sense of history in this park. I wonder how many feet have run up and down these stairs during the last century?
I consider myself to be primarily a nature and landscape photographer, who also enjoys creating digital art. I live on the west coast of Canada, on the southern tip of beautiful Vancouver Island, and nature provides much of the inspiration for my craft. I am lucky to have many birds and wildlife share my neighbourhood, and I will spend many a happy hour sitting outside with my camera, capturing their antics as they come to visit my yard. The many birds and deer have become used to seeing that crazy lady sitting on the porch pointing her black box at them, and, as a result, I have been lucky to have captured many of their images as they visit unafraid.
