A breathtaking view of a mountainous landscape is dominated by a variety of red, brown, and gray hues, with a winding path cutting through the center. Above, clouds hang low, nestling against the peaks in the distance, adding a sense of depth and scale to the scene.
This is a photograph of the crater of Haleakala, the dormant volcano on Maui, which rises 10,000 feet above sea level. It was last thought to have erupted around 1790.
I consider myself to be primarily a nature and landscape photographer, who also enjoys creating digital art. I live on the west coast of Canada, on the southern tip of beautiful Vancouver Island, and nature provides much of the inspiration for my craft. I am lucky to have many birds and wildlife share my neighbourhood, and I will spend many a happy hour sitting outside with my camera, capturing their antics as they come to visit my yard. The many birds and deer have become used to seeing that crazy lady sitting on the porch pointing her black box at them, and, as a result, I have been lucky to have captured many of their images as they visit unafraid.
