This photograph was taken along East Sooke Park's challenging Coast Trail, a 10 kilometre long trail that winds along the park's rugged coastline. East Sooke Regional Park is situated along the windswept rocky east coast of Canada's Vancouver Island. The trail winds along the coastline, over dry hilltops, through dark rainforest to sheltered coves. It leads past pocket beaches, rocky bays and tidal pools, and along the way there are spectacular views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Washington state's Olympic Mountain range.
I consider myself to be primarily a nature and landscape photographer, who also enjoys creating digital art. I live on the west coast of Canada, on the southern tip of beautiful Vancouver Island, and nature provides much of the inspiration for my craft. I am lucky to have many birds and wildlife share my neighbourhood, and I will spend many a happy hour sitting outside with my camera, capturing their antics as they come to visit my yard. The many birds and deer have become used to seeing that crazy lady sitting on the porch pointing her black box at them, and, as a result, I have been lucky to have captured many of their images as they visit unafraid.
