National Historic Sites - Victoria BC - Art

Fort Rodd Hill is a National Historic Site built in the late 1890s to defend Victoria and the Esquimalt Naval Base. A coast artillery fort, it includes many historic buildings, gun batteries, barracks and more. Fisgard Lighthouse is nationally important as the first lighthouse on the rocky Pacific west coast of Canada. Built by the British when Vancouver Island was still a crown colony, the fully operational lighthouse has stood as a symbol of sovereignty since its construction in 1860.
